History

Lorree Neitz began the Stillwater Area Homeschool Support Group in 1994 and it initially met in people's homes for prayer and support.  Field trips and activities were planned by anyone who was willing.  It was a sweet fellowship that grew in numbers and eventually outgrew meeting in people's homes.  The group began to meet monthly at Risen Christ Lutheran Church.  Lorree was a member of River Valley Christian Church and when they built a new building in 1997, she made arrangements to begin meeting there.

In 2002, we began the process of incorporating our group and also becoming a 501 3c (nonprofit) group.  Lorree Neitz retired as leader in August of 2004 after her youngest child graduated and Cheryll White, who had been a member since 1995, stepped in as leader of our newly named and incorporated group, Christian Homeschools of Stillwater. In 2013 Cheryll stepped down as leader and Kim Elsholtz picked up the reins.  She has been a member since 2004 and has served on the 10 member CHS Board of Directors since 2009.

Through the years the group has continued to grow which has allowed for more opportunities to be offered.  Financially blessed by owning and renting testing materials to other homeschool groups, Christian Homeschools of Stillwater has sought to bless the homeschool community by offering encouragement, prayer, fellowship, advice, information and supplemental educational activities.
